Year Four Curriculum Newsletter
Summer Term 2016 - 2017
This letter summarises the curriculum topics for each subject which are to be covered over the next two terms. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Our overall topic for Terms 5 and 6 is Ancient Egypt which will incorporate learning about: who they were; what life was like; mummies; Tutankhamun; Egyptian Gods and much more. Much of this learning will be through cross curricular lessons and projects.
English- narrative writing, persuasive texts, poetry and other genres.
Maths – area, perimeter, co-ordinates, fractions, decimals, length, multiplication, division, shape, symmetry, angles, time, graphs, addition, subtraction and place value
Art- drawing and digital art
DT- food and electrical systems
French – home, transport and countries
Geography/History – Ancient Egypt
ICT- ‘We are musicians’ and ‘We are co-authors’
Music – ‘Exploring signals’ and ‘Exploring descriptive sounds’
PE- Basketball, athletics, dance/gymnastics
PSHE- ‘Relationships’ and ‘Changes’
RE – ‘Hindus Home and Mandir’ and ‘Sikh Rites of Passage’
Science- ‘Electricity’ and ‘All Living Things’
A few reminders:
- Please ensure ALL uniform and PE kit is named.
- All children need to bring a full water bottle into school every day (especially now it is getting warmer).
- Children also need sunhats in school during these terms. If the forecast is to be hot during the day, please apply sun cream to children in the morning.
